What RDH school did you attend?
Fortis College in Landover, MD
How did your program prepare you for a FT RDH position?
Fortis equipped me with the knowledge and skills that I needed to be successful as a full-time dental hygienist. During my time at Fortis, I was fortunate to see a variety of patients from different backgrounds that had a wide range of oral health conditions and hygiene needs. This experience allowed me to better develop my skills as a clinician and oral health educator. My favorite course was pharmacology, it was beneficial in helping me to understand the oral/systemic link.

What do you love about working as a Dental Hygienist?
Being a dental hygienist is very rewarding. To me, the greatest reward is when I am able to help a patient achieve better oral health. A key component to that is patient education. It is my responsibility to teach my patient about oral health and disease in addition to providing clinical care. Good oral health can be life changing. So, it is a great feeling knowing that I am able to make an impact on and improve patient lives.
What have you enjoyed most about your first hygiene position?
The family atmosphere in the office and definitely the patients. Patients are amazing but I couldn't do what I do without the encouragement and support from everyone in the office.
Would you refer a friend to work at your office? If yes, why?
Yes, I love my office! The support is amazing, we are like a big family. Patient care is a top priority and it is evident in the treatment and care that is taken with every patient.
